The grading companies

We stock slabs from three trusted graders. Here's what sets each apart.

ARS

ARS Grading · Tokyo

A Japan-based grader popular with One Piece and other Japanese TCG. It grades a card’s condition only — centering isn’t counted — on a 1–10 scale topped by a rare “10+” for flawless (or perfectly preserved vintage) cards.

Best for Japanese One Piece cards & APAC collectors

BGS

Beckett Grading Services

Famous for four subgrades — centering, corners, edges and surface — printed right on the slab. A 9.5 is Gem Mint; a 10 with four perfect subgrades earns the coveted Black Label.

PSA

Professional Sports Authenticator

The world's most-submitted and most-recognised grader. A clean 1–10 scale with no subgrades — a PSA 10 “Gem Mint” is the global benchmark for resale and liquidity.

Understanding the grade scale

Graders score condition from 1 to 10. The higher the number, the closer to perfect — and the higher the value.

  • 10

    Gem Mint

Flawless to the naked eye — sharp corners, crisp edges, a clean surface and near-perfect centering.

  • 9

    Mint

Outstanding, with at most one minor flaw such as a touch of whitening or slightly off-centre framing.

  • 8

    NM–Mint

Light, hard-to-spot handling. Strong eye appeal and a smart value tier.

  • 7

    Near Mint

Minor wear visible on a close look — a popular grade for older or scarce cards.

  • ≤6

    Excellent & below

Honest, played condition at the most collector-friendly prices.

BGS subgrades

BGS prints four subgrades — centering, corners, edges and surface — so you can see exactly where a card gained or lost points.

BGS Black Label

The rarest Beckett grade: a 10 with four perfect 10 subgrades, printed on a black label and often selling above a comparable PSA 10.

ARS grades condition only

ARS scores how well a card has been preserved, not its factory print — so centering isn't deducted. Its top tier, ARS 10+, is reserved for flawless cards, and for older cards that have kept their original condition perfectly.

Frequently asked questions

What does it mean for a card to be “graded”?

A third-party company authenticates the card, assigns a numeric condition grade and seals it in a tamper-evident slab. The grade and a unique certification number are printed on the label, so you know exactly what you are buying.

Which grading company is best — PSA, BGS or ARS?

None is objectively “best”; they suit different goals. PSA leads on liquidity and worldwide recognition, BGS adds subgrade precision and the prestigious Black Label, and ARS is Japan-based and strong for Japanese One Piece cards.

Is a PSA 10 better than a BGS 9.5?

They are very close — both are “Gem Mint”. Which commands more depends on the specific card and current demand. Above a standard 10 sit the rarest tiers: Beckett’s Black Label and ARS’s 10+.

Are your slabs authentic?

Yes. Every slab is certified by PSA, BGS or ARS and can be independently verified by its certification number on the grading company’s own website.

How are graded cards shipped?

Each slab is packed securely and sent with tracked shipping. Orders of $99 or more ship free; smaller orders carry a flat shipping fee.
